Family Therapy Project

Based on the evaluation that was conducted in 2010, one of the observations made was in relation to cyclic movements of street children among the street – Kitengela centre – and families. Of particular concern was emphasis on the programme to ensure successful rehabilitation and re-integration of street children at the family level, violence, situations that leave many children traumatized and unstable. Consequently, the programme launched a two year Family Based Therapeutic Project that involves intensive work with street children who have undergone traumatizing experiences such as abuse and violence within their families with the main objective being to provide psycho-social support and skills development to help children from the streets, their siblings and families overcome the problems which led to their street involvement and to develop positive family relations and reintegration wherever possible.
