Bravo!! UBEU learners shine
In last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education 2013, Undugu Basic Education learners were amongst the candidates who sat for the examination.
The total number of learners who sat for the examination was 21 from 3 schools located in informal settlements of Nairobi namely, Mathare, Ngomongo and Pumwani respectively. The best student in the 3 schools was Victor Odongo Okoth, from Ngomongo UBEU who scored 304 out of 500 marks in the national examinations followed by Mutuba Ingaiza from Mathare UBEU who had a total score of 286 marks while the least student had a total mark of 126.
Undugu Basic Education Unit is an alternative education provided as an intervention to the challenges facing free primary education in Kenya. It is a 4 year non-formal education unit catering for poor and marginalized children who are unable to access education either because of socio-economic status, over age or personal circumstances to attend formal schools.
